Awl-Grip

The expense of applying Awl-Grip or other two part polyurethane finishes to your sailboat is in the prep. The success of the final finish is also in the prep; though you certainly want to know what you are doing when you break out the spray equipment.

My do-it-yourself friendly boat yard drew the line when it came to customers spraying paint. When you consider the amount of money tied up in all those boats sitting nearby on the hard, I think they would have to be nuts to let their customers spray highly toxic and rapid drying finishes.

The Awl-Grip still looks great 4 years later. It requires no polishing, and stands up well to normal use. I didn't even have a chip out of it until I started racing.
